Awareness Workshop on “Drug Abuse Awareness, Social Impact and Preventive Strategies” conducted at J.C. Bose University

J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad today organized a one-day awareness workshop on “Drug Abuse Awareness, Social Impact and Preventive Strategies”. The workshop, conducted by the Alumni Affairs Cell in association with SC and ST Cell was aimed to sensitize students, faculty, and staff about the growing threat of substance abuse, its far-reaching social consequences, and effective preventive mechanisms.

The programme commenced with the warm welcome of the dignitaries, followed by the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, symbolizing knowledge, hope, and social responsibility. The dignitaries were felicitated with saplings, reflecting the university’s commitment to sustainability and holistic development.

 

The Welcome Address was delivered by Dr. Sanjeev Goyal, Dean, Alumni Affairs Cell, who emphasized the critical role of educational institutions in shaping socially responsible citizens and highlighted the importance of awareness-driven initiatives to combat drug abuse among youth.

 

The audience was further enriched by the address of Shri Bijendra Kumar Meena, Additional Director (NACB), who shared valuable insights into national-level initiatives, legal frameworks, and enforcement mechanisms aimed at controlling narcotics and promoting rehabilitation.

 

The first Technical Session was conducted by Shri S. Gopal, who focused on practical approaches to prevention, community awareness, and real-world challenges in addressing substance abuse.  HE elaborated on the psychological, physical, and social impact of drug abuse. He also discussed preventive strategies, early identification, and the importance of counseling and support systems.

 

In the second Technical Session, Shri S. Gopal provided case-based discussions, identification of early warning signs, and actionable strategies for prevention and intervention, especially within educational campuses. He underscored the alarming rise in substance abuse cases and stressed the need for collective efforts involving academia, families, and society to prevent this growing menace. His address motivated students to make informed and responsible life choices.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Neetu Gupta, Assistant Director, Alumni Affairs Cell, who expressed sincere gratitude to the esteemed speakers, dignitaries, organizers, faculty members, volunteers, and participants for their invaluable contributions and active participation. The event concluded with the National Anthem, fostering a sense of unity and shared responsibility.
