Haryana's J.C. Bose University Signs MoU with University of Calabria, Italy, for AI-Driven Robotics Technologies

In a significant step towards fostering cutting-edge research and international academic collaboration in emerging technologies, J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad (Haryana) has entered into an academic tie-up with the University of Calabria, Italy. The agreement focuses on establishing collaboration in AI-driven Robotics Technologies, including the setting up of a virtual laboratory to facilitate joint research, knowledge exchange, and innovation.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially exchanged between Prof. Giancarlo Fortino, Professor, Department of Computer Engineering, University of Calabria, and Prof. Ajay Ranga, Registrar, J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, in the presence of Prof. Rajive Kumar, Vice Chancellor of the University.

 

The programme was jointly coordinated by the International Affairs Cell and the Research and Development Cell of the University. It was graced by the presence of Prof. Maneesha Garg, Director (Research & Development); Dr. Mamta Kathuria, Director (International Affairs); Deans and Chairpersons of various teaching departments.

 

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Rajive Kumar, Vice Chancellor, emphasized the University's strong commitment to emerging technologies and global partnerships. "This international collaboration underscores our dedicated focus on advancing research in futuristic areas like AI and robotics. By joining hands with a prestigious institution like the University of Calabria, we are creating new avenues for innovation, knowledge sharing, and preparing our students and faculty for global challenges in technology," he stated.

 

During the event, Dr. Rashmi Chawla, Associate Professor at J.C. Bose University, demonstrated her research work on emotion-aware human-robot interaction carried out in collaboration with the University of Calabria. Her presentation highlighted the innovative advancements in creating more intuitive and empathetic interactions between humans and robots.

 

Prof. Giancarlo Fortino gave a brief introduction about the University of Calabria, outlining its academic strengths and research excellence. He also expressed the University’s strong intention to collaborate with the talented faculty and researchers of J.C. Bose University in the field of AI-driven technologies, emphasizing mutual growth and shared innovation.

 

This collaboration has evolved from the ongoing academic association of Dr. Rashmi Chawla, Associate Professor at J.C. Bose University, who is currently affiliated as a Post-Doctoral Researcher at the University of Calabria (DIMES Department). Her research expertise in human-robot collaboration, wearable computing systems, and IoT-driven systems has played a pivotal role in strengthening ties between the two institutions.

 

This MoU is expected to facilitate joint projects, workshops, virtual labs, and collaborative publications, contributing significantly to advancements in AI-driven robotics and allied fields.

Later, Prof. Giancarlo Fortino delivered an insightful expert lecture on ‘Human-Robot Collaboration and AI-Driven Technologies’, sharing his expertise with faculty members, researchers, and students. He also took a detailed round of the student projects exhibited on the occasion, providing valuable feedback and encouragement to the young innovators.
