Media educators and industry experts from across the country will participate in the two-day national conference
J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, is going to host a Two Days National Conference on "Media, Society and Public Discourse in the Digital Age." The conference, organized by the Department of Communication and Media Technology, is scheduled to take place on March 17-18, 2026, at the university campus.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar released the brochure of the Conference. Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Rajive Kumar emphasized the importance of the event in fostering academic and societal dialogue. "In an era where digital media shapes every aspect of our lives, this conference will serve as a vital platform for scholars, practitioners, and policymakers to address challenges like misinformation, ethical AI use, and the transformation of public discourse," he said.
He further added that the deliberations in the conference will contribute significantly to enhancing media literacy and promoting responsible communication in the society. He hoped for active participation from across the nation to make this a landmark event."
Prof. Anuradha Sharma, Dean of the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Media Studies, remarked, "This conference is essential for bridging the gap between media advancements and societal needs, particularly in promoting ethical discourse and literacy in an increasingly digital world."
Prof. Pawan Singh, Conference Chair and Chairperson of the Department of Communication and Media Technology, added, "By bringing together diverse perspectives on these tracks, we aim to foster innovative solutions to the challenges posed by misinformation and technological biases, ultimately enhancing public understanding and engagement."
Guided by an Advisory Committee of over 30 members, including policy-makers, vice-chancellors, eminent academicians and media experts from the Industry, the event aims to generate actionable insights for a more informed and ethical digital landscape.
This event promises to be a pivotal gathering for academics, researchers, media professionals, and policymakers to delve into the evolving dynamics of media in contemporary society. The conference will address pressing issues at the intersection of technology, ethics, and public engagement through a diverse array of tracks.
These include Media Influence on Society, which examines how media shapes public opinion, culture, politics, and ethics; Public Discourse in the Digital Age, focusing on transformations in communication, social media's impact on dialogue, misinformation challenges, digital participation, governance, identity, and media literacy; Media, Politics and Governance, exploring media's role in political processes, regulation, manipulation, ownership, trust, and global dynamics; Media Literacy and Public Engagement, delving into understanding content, narratives, digital participation, civic influence, ethical practices, and skill development; Media and Social Justice, covering representation, inequality, activism, critical consciousness, digital rights, policy change, and participatory storytelling; Ethics, Responsibility and Misinformation, addressing ethical information use, digital citizenship, misinformation management, AI ethics, critical thinking, and socio-cultural effects; Technology, AI and Public Communication, discussing technological evolution, AI applications, engagement, risks, biases, literacy, and future trends; and Future Trends in Media and Public Sphere, analyzing digital convergence, automation, social media evolution, credibility, participatory journalism, policy, and cultural impacts.
