J.C. Bose University Celebrates Golden Jubilee of 1972-76 Batch with Grand ‘Sangam-2026’ Event

The Bharti Airtel Foundation today announced to support 100 students of the J.C. Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, every year under its Scholarship Program. 

This announcement was made during the Golden Jubilee Alumni Meet – ‘Sangam-2026’, celebrating 50 years of the pioneering 1972-76 batch. The event was presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar and graced by distinguished alumnus Shri Rakesh Bharti Mittal, Vice-Chairman of Bharti Enterprises as Chief Guest, along with Dr. Mahesh Sachdeva, CEO, Fuji Gemco Pvt. Ltd., Shri Kanwaljeet Jawa, CEO and MD of Daikin India, Shri. Sukhdev Singh, President of YMCA Mob Alumni Association, other senior corporate leaders and alumni from various sectors. The event was organized by the Alumni Affairs Cell of the University, and coordinated by Prof. Munish Vashishath, Dean (Institution) and Prof. Sanjeev Goyal, Dean (Alumni Affairs). Prof. Ajay Ranga, Registrar of the University, was also on this occassion.

In a significant push towards cutting-edge research, innovation, and skill development in emerging technologies, the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar also announced plans to develop four new Centres of Excellence at an estimated total investment of ₹23 crore. The Vice-Chancellor said that the centres will focus on high-priority and future-oriented domains, including Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Anti-Drone Technology, Mechatronics, and Idea Lab.

In his address, The Vice-Chancellor also highlighted the University’s unique identity rooted in practical excellence, robust industry linkages, and its rich Indo-German heritage, positioning it on par with premier institutions like IITs and NITs. He proudly noted that the University currently stands as the most preferred technical institute in the state among students. Looking ahead, Prof. Kumar expressed his ambition to elevate it to the status of an institute of national importance within the next five years—a goal he emphasized would be achievable only through collective support from alumni, faculty, and all stakeholders.
Shri Rakesh Bharti Mittal, a distinguished alumnus of the 1972-76 batch, delivered a heartfelt and motivational speech. He shared nostalgic memories of his first day on campus, hostel life, lifelong friendships, overcoming academic hurdles with mentorship from teachers like Prof. Arya, Prof. Sikka, and Prof. Talwar, memorable projects, and industrial visits that instilled quality consciousness. 

On this occasion, Shri Mittal declared the expansion of the Bharti Airtel Foundation Scholarship Program from the academic year 2026-2027 to support 100 meritorious students every year, including both girls and boys. At present, 25 girl students was being provided scholarship under Bharti Airtel Foundation Scholarship Program and 57 scholarships were provided, so far. While encouraging the student beneficiaries during a special interaction, Shri Mittal announced additional incentives, stating that students maintaining 8.5 CGPA and above will receive a laptop and financial assistance to cover hostel fee and mess charges. He urged all students to remain disciplined, focused, and dedicated to their studies.

In his address, Shri Sukhdev Singh, President, YMCA MOB Alumni Association, briefed the gathering on MOB’s journey since its inception in 1985. With 17 active national and international chapters, MOB continues to connect over 10,000 alumni worldwide through events, scholarships, mentorship, placements, and institutional support. He motivated current students to work hard, prioritize skill development, and remain committed to excellence.

On this occasion, alumni, led by Mr. Rakesh Bharti Mittal, visited the Startup Exhibition, where they interacted closely with young entrepreneurs, understood their ideas, discussed challenges, and explored mentorship opportunities. The event featured vibrant Cultural Performances by Student Clubs, Art Exhibition, Alumni Speeches and Reminiscences, Honouring of Guests, Workshops and Labs Tour.
