Technology, YMCA, Faridabad, today organized a colourful event to mark the International Women’s Day 2026. The event was convened by the Women Cell under Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of the University. The event aimed to acknowledge women’s contributions to society and promote awareness about gender equality and empowerment within the university community.
Although the global date for the celebration is 8th March, the University deliberately chose 12th March to ensure maximum participation of students, faculty, staff, and guests without disrupting academic schedules.

The event began with welcome of distinguished guests in the Vice Chancellor’s Office, followed by garlanding the bust of Sir J.C. Bose and traditional Lamp Lighting. Prof. Deepti Dharmani, Vice-Chancellor, Chaudhary Bansi Lal University, Bhiwani, was Chief Guest and Dr. Savita Bhagat, Principal (Retd.), D.A.V. Centenary College, Faridabad, graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. The programme was presided over by Prof. Rajive Kumar, Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rajive Kumar, delivered an inspiring address and emphasised the theme of the day — “Rights, Justice, Action for All Women and Girls”. He highlighted the university’s strong commitment to women’s empowerment and detailed the institution’s concrete initiatives, including encouraging female enrolment in technical programmes. He particularly praised the dedication and hard work of the female faculty members of the university and highlighted the special encouragement given to them for research and skill upgradation to support their career growth. This includes provisions for academic leaves, other welfare benefits, and assignment of key academic and administrative roles. He also mentioned that a number of university girl students are availing the prestigious Bharti Foundation scholarships, enabling them to pursue higher education without financial constraints.

Dr. Savita Bhagat, Principal (Retd.), D.A.V. Centenary College, Faridabad, graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. In her address, she shared her rich experiences on women’s role in nation-building and quoted the prevailing disparities in workplaces between men and women. She observed that women are constantly multi-tasking at home and office, which leads to compromised working hours and fewer productive hours at the workplace. She strongly stressed that societal mind-set needs to be changed to bring true equality and support for working women.

The Chief Guest, Prof. Deepti Dharmani, delivered a powerful address advocating for gender equality. She quoted inspiring examples from ancient Indian texts to establish that man and woman have always been considered equal in our culture. She stressed that competition between men and women should be healthy and positive in nature rather than negative, and applauded the university’s proactive steps towards gender equity while motivating young women to pursue excellence in science and technology.

The programme was further enriched by vibrant cultural performances by the university’s various Cultural Clubs, showcasing the talent and creativity of students. The event concluded with a formal Vote of Thanks proposed by Dr. Preeti Sethi. The entire event was meticulously organized and coordinated by Prof. Sandhya Dixit, Chairperson, Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and her dedicated team. Later, the guest took a round of the University’s State-of-the-Art Studio.
